60 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE
6 DECADES OF CORRUPTION

We got “INDEPENDENCE” on 15th August, 1947.
Since last one decade, I was brooding over ‘is there anything that we celebrate on this Independence Day. No doubt, our achievements are too little and failures are too many. Since 1947, our population increased by almost 5times. We are 102, 86 millions in 2001 and in 1991 we were only 8439 millions. In one decade we are increased by almost 1847 million. With this phenomenal growth, all our achievements are nullified. I am sure all of you remember the red inverted triangle ( family planning logo). What happened to all the family planning programmes? It (F.P) started in 1952 and forgotten/ neglected later.
Why? The reason is “Wide spread corruption”

Now, we have come to the basic point of our miserable lives. “CORRUPTION”. No political party in their election manifesto is promising a corruption free and transparent administration. The political leaders are the breeding centers of corruption. In India, you will never find a clean politician. Every politician is involved in one more cases of corruption. They never feel ashamed of their involvement in those cases. The multi crore corruption or scams, where the politicians are involved are Harshad Mehta’s stock market jumble, Telgi’s duplicate stamped papers, Tehlka.com’s exposures of politicians involved in defense secrets, land and flat grabing at Delhi……These are all multicrore projects. If we start individual corruption cases the list is unending. The 60 years of Independence has been overridden by 6 decades of corruption. Now, is it an occasion that we should celebrate “The 60th year of Independence”.

Every year we see drought in one corner of the country and in another there are floods. Never was an attempt to control these two natural calamities. Time and again, experts are voicing that these two can be controlled by uniting the major rivers of the country, but to no avail. Much water is flown under the bridge and directly into the sea. Fresh water is wasted into the sea. Millions of people are yet to taste a glass of clean drinking water. There is no political will to supply clean and fresh drinking water. This is INDIA after
60 years of INDEPENDENCE.

Next comes health and education. Poor services and investment in both the sectors.
The services in both the sectors have become costly, but not commensurate with the quality. One thing is for sure. As a commoner, I know and am sure that illiteracy and poverty are the best investments of a politician, at least in India. No politician wants these two sectors to develop. Or else, he may loose his vote bank. We are secular, and we have enough religions to HATE EACH OTHER, but not one to love each other. Politics with religion is DYNAMITE. Our political leaders take advantage of this, incite people for communal disturbances. In almost all communal disturbances in the country, you will find a political party or politicians are involved.

Since 1947, the cost of living has been increased manifold, at the same time; the purchasing power has come down. As a result the poor have become poorer and the rich are richer. The developmental benefits did not reach the beneficiaries. India is in its villages. How many of our leaders have realized this. There are several thousands of villages which are not having roads, not access able, no drinking water, no electricity no medical benefits, and no educational facilities. The quarter of the population (27 crores) are still under BPL(Below Poverty Line) and around 40 crores of our population are illiterates. This is the position, after 60 years of Independence.

The world index for Human Resources Development shows that we are at 126th position and we should feel ashamed of the fact that one third of world poor population is in INDIA. We have Parliaments and Assemblies and rules and regulations on how to conduct and organize them. But we lack the desired CULTURE AND LEADERSHIP. We are now suffering from lack of young, educated, and dedicated LEADERSHIP. All our Parliamentarians are over 60 years of age barring a few. The criminalization of politics is the one of the reasons, for the young and educated not to join the politics.

In spite of all these miseries, I STILL FEEL PROUD OF MY NATIONALITY.
SARE JAHA SE ACHHA…….
MERA BHARAT MAHAN…..
